Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on the federal government to make the completion of the National Library of Nigeria’s headquarters a top priority.
Obasanjo delivered this appeal during the 60th anniversary celebration and the ‘Lit for Life Africa Festival’ of the National Library of Nigeria in Abuja on Wednesday.
He emphasized that the finishing touches on the headquarters are crucial for the nation’s advancement, stating that the vision for a modern, purpose-built national library goes beyond symbolism; it embodies a tangible commitment to national development.
“I urge all stakeholders, including government entities, the private sector, and international allies, to focus on finalizing this essential infrastructure. An operational headquarters will not only be a beacon for literacy and education but also a center for cultural preservation and a global representation of Nigeria’s dedication to learning and innovation,” he asserted.
