Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has strongly rebuffed allegations made by Muhammad Jamil, also known as Jadda Garko, accusing the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, of unfairness in the distribution of road and bridge projects nationwide.

The influential Igbo socio-cultural organization highlighted that the Northern region has emerged as the primary beneficiary of President Tinubu’s infrastructure projects, receiving a larger portion of road and bridge developments compared to the Southern region.

This information was conveyed in a statement released on Sunday by the organization’s Secretary General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

Isiguzoro pointed to recent data as clear evidence of the progress achieved under Senator Umahi’s guidance, indicating that 2,735 kilometers of road projects are currently underway, with 1,414 kilometers (52%) allocated to the Northern region and 1,321 kilometers (48%) to the Southern region.

He characterized the allegations as unfounded and part of a larger scheme by certain opposition figures to sow division and divert the Minister’s attention from his important duties. Isiguzoro emphasized that Senator Umahi is diligently fulfilling the directives given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council.

The statement declared, “To uphold the integrity of the ongoing infrastructure initiatives in Nigeria, Ohanaeze Ndigbo finds it crucial to address the baseless claims made by Muhammad Jamil, known as Jadda Garko. His assertions regarding Minister Umahi’s alleged inequity in project allocations starkly contradict the verified facts and reflect a broader agenda to undermine essential developmental efforts.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo firmly asserts that the claims of imbalanced project execution are unfounded and are indicative of a larger attempt by opposition figures to incite discord and distract the Minister from his vital responsibilities. Senator Umahi has been tirelessly dedicated to executing the mandates entrusted to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council, working diligently to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens.

“It is essential to emphasize that the Northern region is not just a beneficiary but the largest recipient of President Tinubu’s infrastructure initiatives, receiving a greater share of road and bridge projects than the Southern region.”

“Our stance is rooted in verified empirical data, countering the claims of inequity irresponsibly propagated by dissenting parties. The narrative of unfairness has no place when faced with the facts that highlight the government’s commitment to equitable resource and service distribution.”
