The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has issued a heartfelt plea to the organizers of the nationwide protest to reconsider their plans in Igbo land. In a statement released on Wednesday, the National President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity during these challenging times.
While acknowledging the hardships currently faced by the nation, the council expressed their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. They firmly believe that protest is not the solution and called on all Nigerians to have faith in the government’s efforts to restore the country’s prosperity.
“We must stand together as one and trust in the leadership of President Tinubu,” Okwu stated. “It is only through unity and resilience that we can overcome our current challenges. We refuse to be sacrificial lambs in a nationwide protest that could potentially harm our communities.”
The council further urged Igbo youths across the country and in the Diaspora to prioritize peace and refrain from engaging in any activities that may lead to the destruction of their homes and businesses. Their primary concern lies in the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the equitable representation of the South-East through the allocation of an additional state, as well as the correction of imbalances in appointments in line with the Federal Character Principle.
In conclusion, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide appeals for restraint, unity, and a collective effort to address the challenges facing the nation.
They firmly believe that by staying united and working hand in hand with the government, a brighter future can be achieved for all Nigerians.
