The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerians from all walks of life to place integrity, accountability and transparency as important values for reshaping and rebuilding the country’s future.

He made the call in Abuja on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the commemoration of the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day organized by the Anti-Corruption Transparency Unit, ACTU, of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON.

The EFCC’s boss, who was represented by the Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE II, Aisha Muhammed, while speaking on the theme of the 2024 International Anti-corruption Day, “Uniting with Youths against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”, stressed that anti-corruption fight requires the wholistic and active participation and engagement of all stakeholders and members of the society.

Explaining further, she stated that, “youths have to take action against corruption and promote integrity in all their daily doings.

Youths are innovators and change makers of the society and as such, they should take responsibility to shape a future that is free of corruption and criminal tendencies”.

The Executive Director of AMCON, Aminu Mukhtar Dan’amu, pointed out that corruption stemmed from lack of accountability in the society. “ We must promote a culture of accountability in every aspect of our lives”, he said.

Also, the Deputy Director, System Study and Review in the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Clement Obaniyi, stressed that transparency should begin with management of public offices, adding that staff play a significant role in eliminating fraud in their offices.

He emphasized that government officials and employees must be held to high standards of accountability and responsibility.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of Staff with Integrity Awards clinched by Aisha Bunu, Team Leader in the Resolution Directorate of AMCON.

Organisers of the Award stressed that the Award would inspire public servants to embody integrity and uphold exemplary moral standards in their personal and professional lives.
