Senator (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has extended her support to 1,000 women petty traders in Niger State by disbursing N50 million in grants.

This initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment Programme, aimed at uplifting women and vulnerable groups across the country.

Represented by Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, wife of the Niger State Governor, Senator Tinubu emphasized that each beneficiary would receive N50,000 to help grow and sustain their businesses.

She highlighted that this initiative is not limited to Niger State but is part of a broader national effort.

A total of N1.8 billion will be distributed to 37,000 women petty traders across Nigeria to empower them to expand their businesses and create employment opportunities.

“This initiative is designed to bolster our economy by empowering women, who are key contributors to their families and communities,” Senator Tinubu stated. “When women thrive, their families prosper, and this, in turn, leads to the growth of our communities and nation.”

She also noted that the Renewed Hope Initiative is actively fulfilling its promises to support women and youth in all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.

In her remarks, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba, the Commissioner for the Niger State Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to enhance their livelihoods.

Expressing their gratitude, beneficiaries Sa’adatu Mohammed and Precious Audi thanked the First Lady and the Governor’s wife for their generosity and commitment to utilizing the funds effectively.

Usman Mohammed, representing the Crippled Association of Nigeria (Physically Challenged) in Niger State, also expressed his appreciation for the palliatives provided, noting that the food items would significantly help in supporting their families.
