Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared three days of mourning and prayers for the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who passed away on Saturday.
The period of mourning, from Sunday, January 5, to Tuesday, January 7, is in honour of the deceased, who the governor described as a significant figure in the state’s political and governance history.
During a condolence visit to Oluwatuyi’s family in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa extolled his virtues, stating that the late SSG lived a fulfilled life, impacting many positively.
Addressing the deceased’s children abroad via video call, the governor praised Oluwatuyi as a humble and decorous gentleman, promising government support to the family during this challenging time.
In the condolence register, the governor wrote:
“Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, you came, you lived, you performed your God-given tasks and impacted lives. You have decided to leave us at a time we never expected, but God said it is time to come home. May you rest in the bosom of your Creator. Amen.”
The condolence visit included members of the State Executive Council, with prayers led by Pastor Ayoade Babalola, Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, for the family, Akure community, and Ondo State.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State also expressed grief over the SSG’s demise. In a statement by its Director of Publicity, Leye Igbagbo, the party described Oluwatuyi as humble, accommodating, and progressive. The statement read:
“This tragic incident is unfortunate, but we cannot question God. Our heartfelt condolences go to the government, the Akure community, and his immediate family. May God grant them the strength to overcome this loss.”
The late Oluwatuyi passed away in the hospital on Saturday after sustaining injuries in a car accident.
