The Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, has called on Nigerians to show patience and trust in the government led by President Bola Tinubu.
During a recent meeting with Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egba land, in Abeokuta, the first-class monarch emphasized that Tinubu, who has been in office for just a year, requires more time to tackle the nation’s economic difficulties.
Oba Ogunlade expressed his belief in the current administration’s potential, asserting that by the end of Tinubu’s term, citizens will likely advocate for his re-election. He recalled how Tinubu transformed the economy during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State, urging the public to exercise patience as he works towards similar improvements on a national scale.
He stated, “When this president assumed governorship in Lagos, the economy faced challenges, and he asked for patience, which ultimately led to remarkable change. Now, he is appealing to the nation for the same understanding. This is merely the first year; the economic situation was dire before he took office, and I am confident that by the end of his first term, people will be calling for a second term.”
While in Abeokuta to attend the funeral of Titus Odedina, the father of former Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Samson Odedina, Oba Ogunlade praised the deceased as a man of integrity and honor.
He spoke fondly of Samson Odedina, noting his contributions to agriculture and education as a provost and commissioner, and expressed admiration for his family.
In the wake of ongoing protests across Nigeria, the monarch’s statements come as a reminder of the challenges faced by citizens and the hope for a brighter future under Tinubu’s leadership, should he be given the necessary time to implement his policies.
