In Ondo State, police officials announced that the individuals who were kidnapped on Friday in Ifon, located in the Ose Local Government Area, have been located and saved.

The incident occurred around 11 pm while the victims were traveling from the South-East. During the abduction, one passenger and the driver were tragically killed by armed assailants. Five others were taken, but two managed to escape despite sustaining injuries.

On Monday, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omilana, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, issued a statement detailing the incident. She mentioned that the kidnappers left the hostages in a forested area.

The rescue operation was spearheaded by Olufemi Awoyele, the Area Commander of Owo, and his tactical team. They conducted an intensive search through the forest, which pressured the kidnappers to abandon their captives at the Oyinbo/Sanusi camp.

Odunlami-Omilana further explained that the rescued individuals are currently receiving medical care at the police medical facility in Owo. Once they are fully treated and debriefed, they will be reunited with their families.
