Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Ondo governorship election, secured a victory at his polling unit.
Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent deputy governor, received 128 votes at Polling Unit 05, Ugbo Ward 4, Obenla in Ilaje Local Government Area, where he cast his ballot. In contrast, Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, garnered only three votes.
Ahead of the election, Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence in his chances, citing his track record in office as a key factor in his anticipated victory. He further highlighted his extensive campaign, stating that he was the only candidate who had actively toured all 18 local government areas to engage with voters.
Encouraging residents to participate in the electoral process, Aiyedatiwa urged them to vote without fear or favour. He also emphasized his commitment to fair play, stating that he would accept defeat if the election was conducted without any fraudulent activities.
“If the outcome of the poll does not favour my party (APC), as long as we receive no reports of fraud, we will accept the results,” Aiyedatiwa affirmed.
