Minister of state for labour and employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has through her foundation programme, began the 2024 distribution of learning materials to public primary and secondary schools in Umunneochi and Isuikwuato local government areas of Abia State.
A statement by her media adviser, Emameh Gabriel, disclosed that the large-scale initiative which started this week, will provide public schools in Umunneochi and Isuikwuato local government areas with thousands of educational materials for students and teachers across the two local governments.
Onyejeocha reaffirmed her commitment to leveraging education as a transformative tool to uplift and empower her people, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
She said: “We are harnessing the power of education to empower our people. Through knowledge and enlightenment, we are unlocking the doors to a brighter future, where these children can thrive and reach their full potential.
“We have been doing this and many others, including giving scholarships to our people and we have been steadfast in our commitment to giving back, and with God’s grace, we will continue to build upon our accomplishments.
This endeavor is our way of expressing our appreciation and contributing to the well-being of society.
“We are conscious of the fact that by investing in education, we are arming our people with the right tools to overcome the cycles of poverty and oppression, and forge a path towards freedom and prosperity.”
Onyejeocha said this year’s initiative holds a special significance for her, as she reflected on God’s guidance and blessings that have empowered her to serve her community and the nation with purpose and passion.
A comprehensive range of educational materials was distributed to the schools, including: School bags for students – English and Mathematics textbooks for various grade levels: Primary school: grades 1-6- Junior Secondary School (JSS): grades 1-3- Senior Secondary School (SS): grades 1-3, Exercise books for students to practice and reinforce their learning.
This extensive package of educational resources aims to support students’ academic journey and foster a conducive learning environment in public schools.
In their heartfelt remarks while receiving the educational materials at their respective schools, educators – including Mrs. Gloria Onwudinjo of Ezingodo Community Primary School, Mrs. Udeka Ngozi representing Uka A. C of Ngodo State Primary School, and Mrs. Elem Udobi of Ngodo Comprehensive Model Secondary School, commended the minister for her support and generosity.
