Adams Oshiomhole, the lawmaker representing the Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, publicly thanked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for “lending” Nyesom Wike to the current administration during a New Year’s luncheon held in Port Harcourt, hosted by the Federal Capital Territory Minister.
Oshiomhole praised Wike for his significant contributions to President Bola Tinubu’s government, highlighting the minister’s value to the ruling party and his impactful work in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Referring to Wike as a “borrowed asset” from the opposition party, Oshiomhole expressed his appreciation, stating, “Thank you to PDP for allowing Nyesom Wike to assist us in improving Abuja. While I don’t belong to any particular club, I do hear from those who support teams like Manchester United.”
He humorously remarked, “When you send your star player to another club, it usually comes with a hefty price tag.” Oshiomhole continued, “We are grateful for the assistance Wike is providing to our APC government, and the PDP from Rivers has transferred him to us without demanding a transfer fee.”
Oshiomhole concluded by asserting that the APC would prefer not to see Wike return to the PDP, acknowledging his substantial contributions to President Tinubu’s administration. “We wouldn’t be pleased to let you go; we might even set up a toll gate to keep you here,” he joked.
