African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen could miss two crucial World Cup Qualifiers due to ongoing injuries.
Ahead of the June international break in which Nigeria will play two games, Victor Osimhen is a doubt following reports that he was absent from training on Monday as Napoli began preparations for their upcoming match against Leece.
The former Lille man sustained an injury during his club’s home defeat against Bologna two weeks ago and has hence been absent from training and their last match against Fiorentina last weekend.
The forward is currently on a rehabilitation process as he only works in the gym to get himself back to full fitness as revealed by his club Napoli via their official website.
Due to his ongoing injury concerns, Osimhen may also be unable to feature in Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are scheduled to face South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, June 7, followed by a match against Benin Republic at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan three days later.
