The Nigeria Olympics bound team, the Super Falcons were defeated by the defending Champions of 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Canada in a preparatory game on Wednesday.

The game was played at the La Quinta Football center in Spain where the Super Falcons were camping for this year’s Olympics.

The game which was played behind closed doors and even forbade journalists and team reporters from reporting the game on their respective channels.

The game was the last for the Super Falcons as they will depart to Paris, France where the Olympics will take place.

Canada won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the female category having defeated their rivals Sweden in the final.

Canada held Sweden to a 1-1 draw at full time, forcing the game to penalties which they won 3-2 to claim their first-ever Olympics gold medal in football at the International Stadium Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan, on 6 August 2021.

Nigeria will be making their first appearance in the women’s football category for the first time since 2008.

Nigeria women became the most successful African team in Olympics history and will be making their fourth appearance at the games in France.

Nigeria is paired in group C alongside Spain, Japan and Brazil.
