A Paris court on Thursday sentenced Mathias Pogba, brother of France midfielder Paul Pogba, to a three-year prison term, with two years suspended, following his conviction in a high-profile extortion case.
The court ruled that Mathias could serve his one-year sentence under electronic surveillance instead of behind bars.
He was also fined 20,000 euros for his role in attempting to extort 13 million euros ($13.5 million) from Paul Pogba in 2022.
Mathias was found guilty of exerting pressure on his brother, Paul, as well as his family and business associates, in an effort to secure the payment.
The case has drawn significant attention due to its connection to the renowned footballer, highlighting familial and financial disputes in the public eye.
