The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has declared that he has served Akwa Ibom State in the last one year with the integrity of his heart. He made this declaration today Tuesday, 28th May, 2024 while addressing members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Akwa Ibom State Chapter in a media briefing at the Government House Bouquet Hall.
Gov. Eno has assured members of the press of a thorough review of all the projects executed in the last year, stating that the Ministry of Information has put together a scorecard of his administration which will be accessible to all, and will be presented officially to the chairman of NUJ, comrade Amos Etuk.
In his words “We have tried in the last one year to stay within the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda. It’s just one year and we are not the ones to say we have done well but I can say without any shadow of a doubt that I have served Akwa Ibom State in the last one year with the integrity of my heart. I cannot claim to be perfect, we made mistakes and we’ve tried to correct ourselves”.
Pastor Eno reiterated his commitment to the delivery of promises made to Akwa Ibomites and charged journalists to continue to align with him, work with his administration, criticize constructively, and draw their attention to things they may not have done, assuring them that his administration will look at it and see what can be done. This, according to him will help him and his team to work better and serve the people better.
More so, members of the press posed questions on issues that border the state and the people, ranging from the state-owned media outlets, Education, internal security Agriculture, Land and housing, and Local Government Affairs among others. The Governor tactically responded to the questions alongside the commissioners in the those ministries.
Other dignitaries in attendance include the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong and his honorable members, state PDP chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, and the state executive council among others.
