The Akwa Ibom State Governor, his Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has on Monday relieved the Honourable commissioner for special duties of his position with immediate effect.
Engineer Bassey Okon was notified of his sack following a press statement signed by the Secretary to the state government, prince Enobong Uwah.
The release read, “In an ongoing effort to reposition this administration in line with the ARISE AGENDA, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellecy Pastor Umo Eno has relieved Dr. Bassey P. Okon, Honourable commissioner for special Duties as commissioner in Akwa Ibom State executive council with immediate effect.” 
“His Excellency thanks him for his services for the state and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.”
“He is therefore directed to handover to the permanent secretary in the ministry. In the meantime, the ministry will be supervised by the secretary to the state government pending the appointment of a new commissioner.” The release concluded.
