Pastor Tom Takpatore, the esteemed spiritual leader of First Baptist Church in Garki, Abuja, has passionately called upon the administration led by President Bola Tinubu to enhance the delivery of essential social services to the Nigerian people.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 2024 Mid-Year Thanksgiving Service in Abuja, Pastor Takpatore emphasized that improving service delivery and ensuring sustained access to the fruits of democracy would significantly enhance the quality of life for citizens and reinforce their trust in the government.
Pastor Takpatore firmly believes that Nigerians deserve access to fundamental social amenities, including uninterrupted electricity supply, high-quality and functional education, affordable and top-notch healthcare services, as well as clean water, proper sanitation, and hygiene facilities.
In his view, the provision of these essential services would not only boost people’s productivity and well-being but also have a positive long-term impact on economic growth and sustainable development.
The clergyman went a step further and urged President Tinubu to ensure inclusivity in the distribution of the dividends of democracy, irrespective of political party affiliations, religious beliefs, ethnic backgrounds, or regional differences.
While acknowledging Nigeria’s significant progress during its 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, Pastor Takpatore stressed the importance of ensuring that citizens tangibly experience the benefits of democratic governance.
He emphasized the critical need to evaluate the journey so far, identifying areas of strength, weaknesses, and determining the necessary steps to enhance the well-being of the Nigerian people.
In his unwavering faith, Pastor Takpatore expressed confidence that President Tinubu would overcome the existing economic challenges and build a resilient economy that caters to the needs of all citizens.
Despite the current harsh economic conditions, the pastor found reasons to be grateful, affirming that with gratitude and divine intervention, the nation will triumph over the obstacles that hinder progress.
Pastor Takpatore clarified that the mid-year thanksgiving service was organized to celebrate life and express gratitude to God, reminding everyone that as long as there is life, there is hope.
While acknowledging that the journey ahead may be challenging, he firmly believes that with God’s guidance, Nigeria will overcome and prosper as a united nation.
