The Nigerian Police have arrested five suspected kidnappers following the positive identification of one of them by their victims. The suspects had abducted a pastor’ s wife and two other individuals but were foiled when the victims managed to escape due to the kidnappers falling asleep from the influence of hard drugs
The apprehended suspects have been identified as Yusuf Tale (21 years old), Garuba Mumuni (27 years old), Adamu Mohammed (22 years old), Kabiru Muhammed (16 years old), and Shaibu Umar. The police launched an investigation after receiving a report of the kidnapping at Ofosu Division. The victims recounted how they were abducted from various locations, including a church and a farm where one victim was gathering snails
The victims escaped from their captors on different occasions after the kidnappers fell asleep from consuming hard drugs. Through intelligence operations, the police arrested five of the six kidnappers on May 1, 2024. The victims positively identified them as part of the gang responsible for their abduction
In a separate incident reported on March 28, 2024, at Ifon Police Station, two people were abducted and a woman was killed by suspected kidnappers. Police detectives, with the assistance of local vigilantes, arrested Muhammad Bello, Muhammad Suraju, and Suleiman Saliu. One of the victims identified two of the suspects as those involved in his kidnapping, during which he was forced to pay a ransom of #1, 800, 000 before his release.
Ondo State Police Commissioner, Peter Abayomi, commended the efforts of the officers from the Ofosu Division in apprehending the suspects. The arrested individuals will face prosecution in court for their alleged involvement in these kidnapping incidents.
