As the joyous occasion of Eid-el Maulud is celebrated, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is urging the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to reevaluate its policies that adversely impact the populace, emphasizing the need for a greater focus on citizens’ welfare.

To facilitate the celebrations, the Federal Government has declared Monday a public holiday for Muslims to observe Eid-el Maulud.

In a statement released on Sunday, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, called on the Federal Government to curtail wasteful expenditures, combat corruption, and redirect resources towards initiatives that genuinely benefit the Nigerian people.

The statement expressed: “The Peoples Democratic Party extends heartfelt greetings to Nigerians, particularly the Muslim community, on the occasion of Eid-el Maulud, urging them to renew their commitment to a national revival aimed at overcoming the severe economic challenges and escalating insecurity exacerbated by the APC’s policies.”

The party encouraged citizens to seek strength in their faith, turning to Allah for guidance and emphasizing the importance of mutual support during this challenging time when countless individuals face hardship, despair, and extreme poverty due to ineffective governance by the APC.

The opposition party also urged Nigerians to remain patient and optimistic, using Eid-el Maulud as an opportunity to express love and compassion for one another while earnestly seeking divine assistance in navigating the nation’s challenges.

The PDP lamented that many citizens are unable to partake in the festivities associated with such a significant occasion as Eid-el Maulud. They advised leaders whose policies cause suffering to reflect deeply on their decisions during this time.

“For the umpteenth time, the PDP demands an immediate review of harmful and burdensome policies, particularly the recent increases in fuel prices, taxes, and tariffs, which severely hinder the daily lives of Nigerians,” the statement continued.

Additionally, the PDP urged the Federal Government to eliminate wasteful spending, address corruption, and prioritize the needs of citizens by allocating resources to projects and programs that directly enhance the welfare of Nigerians.
