Umar Sani, the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former Vice President Namadi Sambo, has indicated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may take disciplinary measures against Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Sani stated that the PDP’s newly formed disciplinary committee is now active and may impose sanctions on Wike, emphasizing that no member is above the party’s rules.

During an interview, he clarified that there was no disciplinary body in place at the time of Wike’s alleged infractions.

However, with the recent establishment of a committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi, Sani suggested that the party could consider actions against those who breach its regulations.

Sani remarked, “This issue has often been oversimplified and portrayed as a personal conflict between Abubakar Atiku and Nyesom Wike. The truth is, the Governors’ Forum, which had been inactive, is now revitalized and working towards resolving the ongoing crisis.”

He noted that while a court order may prevent the removal of officials, it does not impede the party’s ability to suspend members or enforce discipline.

“There was no disciplinary committee in existence when Wike supposedly violated party rules. Now that we have a committee established, let’s give them the opportunity to perform their duties before concluding that Wike is exempt from party regulations. We should wait to see if they recommend any disciplinary measures against him,” Sani added.
