The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Edwin Woko, has criticized the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, following his recent statements regarding the party’s ambitions for the upcoming gubernatorial election in 2027.

According to reports, Ganduje asserted during the inauguration of the new APC state executive, headed by Tony Okocha, in Port Harcourt, that winning the Government House in Rivers State is a primary objective for the party in the forthcoming election.

In an interview, Edwin Woko responded firmly, emphasizing that Governor Sim Fubara’s bid for a second term will proceed without obstacles, and the electorate in Rivers State will ensure his success at the polls.

Woko declared that there is no vacancy for the APC in 2027, as the citizens have already rejected the party’s unfavorable policies. He further asserted that the people will not tolerate any manipulation during the upcoming election or permit unidentified security forces to interfere with the voting process.

“The residents of Rivers State will spare no effort to guarantee that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s second term remains unchallenged,” he stated.

He stated, “The people have turned their backs on the APC, and this sentiment will persist as they continue to oppose the party’s detrimental policies.”

Woko maintained that Governor Fubara will indeed run for re-election under the PDP banner, despite the challenges posed by certain divisive elements within the party. He expressed confidence that these disruptive influences, which he referred to as “political polyandrist,” will soon fade away.

“The violations of democracy witnessed during the last gubernatorial election in Edo State will not occur in Rivers State. Elections should be determined by the votes of the people, not through coercive tactics or the theft of votes facilitated by faceless security agents or any manipulative strategies employed by Ganduje’s APC,” he concluded.
