On Saturday, August 10, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State successfully conducted elections for its state executive committee, setting the stage for a four-year term of leadership.
Each of the 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs) within the state will have 18 chapter officers, including a designated representative for Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs).
In a statement released on Sunday, the party announced the election of one National Delegate from each LGA, with Governor Pastor Umo Eno among those elected.
The statement highlighted that the governor, in a goodwill message conveyed by party elders and stakeholders in various localities, praised members for their peaceful and unified approach during the congress. He urged the newly elected officials to dedicate themselves to ensuring the party remains on a winning trajectory in future elections.
Additionally, Elder Aniekan Akpan, the party chairman in Akwa Ibom, addressed stakeholders and returning officers before their return to the LGAs, emphasizing the importance of selecting leaders who are committed to the sacrifices necessary for effective stewardship, which would attract more supporters to the PDP.
He remarked, “In our state, the PDP enjoys the distinction of being the most beloved and preferred political party among the people of Akwa Ibom.”
