Bode George, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to lower the petrol pump price to N300 per liter.
George made this request, suggesting that the price reduction should take effect from mid-December and extend through the end of January, allowing Nigerians to enjoy the festive season more comfortably.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP emphasized that it is time for Tinubu to give back to the populace.
He stated, “December and January are two months that hold significant importance for everyone, irrespective of their beliefs—whether Christian, Muslim, atheist, or traditionalist. These months are universally recognized.”
George proposed, “From mid-December until the end of January, the government should reduce the price of petrol to N300 per liter. The government can absorb any financial losses incurred during this period.”
He highlighted that such a move would bring joy to Nigerians during the holiday season.
George further remarked, “If the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, could donate N1 billion to a university, she could equally contribute funds to help cover this cost.”
He continued, “This gesture would spread happiness across various communities and households in Nigeria. It would create a positive atmosphere during this time of year.”
George added, “It’s a challenge, but it’s achievable. If Madam First Lady can donate such a substantial amount, why not allocate funds to ensure everyone can benefit from a petrol price of N300 per liter? This would allow people to rest easy.”
He expressed hope that such a measure would uplift spirits during the festive months and invoke divine blessings: “We need to put smiles on the faces of our people in December and January.”
