The internal Problems within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have intensified, as a faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) has appointed Yayari Ahmed, the party’s Treasurer, as the new Acting National Chairman.

According to reports, this decision comes in the wake of the recent suspension of Amb. Umar Damagum from his position as Acting National Chairman.

In an official announcement made on Friday in Abuja, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the National Secretary of the PDP, provided further details regarding this development.

The statement read, “In light of the suspension of His Excellency, Amb. Illiya Damagum from his role as Acting National Chairman of our esteemed party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC) has sanctioned the appointment of Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as Acting National Chairman.

“This appointment takes effect immediately, under the provisions outlined in the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

“The NWC urges all party organs, leaders, key stakeholders, and members to remain united and focused during this pivotal moment, particularly as we begin preparations for the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2024.”
