The Osun State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rebuffed the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) aspirations to unseat Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming 2026 governorship election.
According to reports, the confidence expressed by Osun NNPP Chairman, Tosin Odeyemi, during the inauguration of new party offices in the Ila, Boripe, and Ifelodun local government areas, has been met with skepticism. Odeyemi asserted that the current administration’s perceived failures and the ongoing economic difficulties in the country would bolster the NNPP’s chances in the next election.
“We in NNPP are optimistic about our chances in the 2026 poll. The current economic hardship is demarketing the APC at the federal level, while the PDP administration in Osun has shown limited capacity to improve governance. This gives us an edge as we gear up to end Governor Adeleke’s reign,” Odeyemi stated confidently.
He encouraged party members to remain dedicated to their cause, promising a promising future for the NNPP in Osun State.
In response, Oladele Bamiji, the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, dismissed the NNPP’s assertions as unfounded. He argued that the claims were merely an attempt by the opposition to placate their supporters, asserting that they lack the power to hinder the governor’s re-election.
“They are just trying to please their sponsors. The NNPP cannot stop the re-election of a performing governor like Senator Ademola Adeleke. The people of Osun will not allow anyone to derail the progress the state is currently enjoying,” Bamiji stated firmly.
