The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially rejected the suspension of Chief Ali Odefa, the National Vice Chairman for the South-East, from his ward.

In a statement released by the party’s media director for the region, Richard Nwafor, the PDP claimed that the ward executives responsible for Odefa’s alleged suspension were affiliated with an opposition party, aiming to create discord and destabilize the PDP.

“We have been made aware of a media release attributed to certain anonymous individuals, purportedly ward executives from Onicha Local Government Area in Ebonyi State,” Nwafor stated.

“These individuals, having failed in their attempts to take control of our party’s structure for their personal gain, have resorted to sowing confusion and division within our ranks.”

The party urged members and the public to dismiss the claims regarding Odefa’s suspension, asserting that no such action has taken place. “We firmly declare that High Chief Dr. Ali Odefa remains resolute and committed to his responsibilities,” Nwafor emphasized.

He reassured that no distractions would deter the South-East National Vice Chairman from his ongoing efforts to revitalize the party in both Ebonyi State and the region.

“Since a Federal High Court in Abakaliki dissolved the Caretaker Committee members a few months ago, the Zonal Working Committee of our party in the South-East has taken charge to oversee the PDP’s activities in Ebonyi State. The National Vice Chairman’s commitment to repositioning the party in the state and the South-East will not be swayed by distractions,” the PDP affirmed.

The spokesperson for the PDP in the South-East urged the public to ignore misinformation and called on party members, supporters, and advocates of democracy not to succumb to intimidation from unverified individuals claiming membership in the party.
