The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released its official timetable for the 2025 zonal congresses, where new Zonal Working Committees (ZWC) and National Ex-officio members will be elected as the current zonal executives approach the end of their terms.
In a statement signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, the timetable was approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) during its 592nd meeting.
The congresses will be held in the South South, South East, South West, North Central, and North East zones.
The process kicks off with the sale of forms for ZWC and National Ex-officio positions, beginning on Monday, November 18, 2024, and concluding on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Aspiring candidates are advised to submit their completed Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the Directorate of Organization and Mobilization by Friday, January 17, 2025.
Key dates include the screening of aspirants at zonal headquarters on Saturday, January 25, 2025, with the appeals process slated for February 1, 2025.
The final list of cleared aspirants will be published on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, with delegate lists to follow on February 13, 2025.
The zonal congresses for the North East, South East, and South South zones are scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025, while those for the North Central and South West zones will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025.Appeals on the outcomes are set for February 25 and March 26, 2025.
The NWC urged party members and leaders to remain united and committed to strengthening the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The congresses are seen as crucial in fortifying the party’s grassroots presence and enhancing internal unity as it prepares for future electoral challenges.The PDP also reiterated its commitment to conducting a transparent and democratic process.
