The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully inaugurated its executive members across all 17 local government areas in Enugu State, along with the executives from the 260 wards in the region.
The inauguration event concluded at the headquarters of Nkanu East LGA in Amagunze on Friday. Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, the state party chairman, presided over the inauguration, urging the newly elected leaders to start working diligently towards the party’s success in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Chukwunweike expressed regret over the party’s significant losses in the 2023 elections, where it ceded numerous seats to the Labour Party at both the state and federal levels.
However, he reassured the new executives that Governor Peter Mbah’s effective governance would ease their responsibilities in promoting the party’s agenda.
“We have traveled across all the LGAs for this essential task. As directed by our party leader, Governor Peter Mbah, we are here to officially inaugurate all elected executives. Although we could have held this event sooner after your elections in August, it’s never too late,” he stated.
“In each election, not every candidate will emerge victorious. We encourage you to support one another to avoid repeating the mistakes of 2023.”
Chukwunweike noted the positive trend of former party members returning to the PDP, emphasizing the importance of treating these returning members with fairness to strengthen the party’s unity.
“With their return, we will become even more formidable. Together, we will overcome any opposition in future elections,” he affirmed.
The PDP chairman concluded by calling on party members to rally behind the newly inaugurated executives, supporting their mission to mobilize the party and secure victories in future electoral contests.
