The chairperson of the PDP Women Campaign Council, Betsy Obaseki, has rallied the women of Edo State, urging them to use their substantial numbers to secure a win for the party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming election set for September 21.
During a vibrant campaign event held in Irrua, the headquarters of the Esan Central Local Government Area, Mrs. Obaseki emphasized the pivotal role elections play in determining the future of the community and the nation as a whole.
Addressing an energizing crowd from Esan Central, Esan West, and Igueben, she highlighted the overwhelming support for Mr. Ighodalo, encouraging women to understand the significance of their votes. “The selection of effective leaders is vital,” she stated, pointing out that governance quality profoundly affects everyday life, particularly in economic matters like soaring food prices. She cautioned, “Elections are serious business,” stressing that the right leadership can either propel the nation forward or lead to its decline.
Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, spouse of the PDP candidate, made an emotional appeal to the women, drawing a parallel between their support and the nurturing love of a mother for her child. She expressed optimism that their unified backing would help her husband triumph in the elections.
PDP leaders from the Esan region echoed these sentiments, urging voters to honor Governor Obaseki’s contributions by casting their ballots for Ighodalo.
Special Adviser on Political Matters for Edo Central Senatorial District, Mrs. Ihenyen, praised the governor for prioritizing substantial achievements over financial inducements, advocating for Ighodalo as the choice for continued progress.
The gathering concluded with a shared commitment among the women to mobilize and ensure the PDP’s victory in the imminent election.
