Mr. Oteghe Adams, a prominent figure within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has recently urged the people of Edo State to cast their votes for the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, on the upcoming election day of September 21, 2024. He emphasized that Ighodalo’s governance plan is well-defined and aims to foster a brighter future for the region.

Adams expressed deep concern over the current political climate in Edo, which he believes is marked by alarming signs of decline due to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He likened this party, under the guidance of Senator Adams Oshiomhole and their candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo, to a “locomotive loaded with hazardous waste” threatening to derail the state’s political integrity.

In a statement from Benin, Adams implored the citizens of Edo to protect themselves from the detrimental governance that the APC embodies. He underscored that the decision facing voters in the forthcoming gubernatorial election is of immense historical significance.

Adams praised Ighodalo for presenting a thoughtfully crafted and transparent agreement with the electorate, advocating for his election as the next governor. He criticized Okpebholo for failing to make any significant public appearances or share a manifesto for public discussion.

In light of recent developments, Adams highlighted Ighodalo’s strategic manifesto titled “Pathway to Prosperity for All,” which aims to engage various segments of society, including educators, civil servants, market vendors, and health professionals. He described this manifesto as a comprehensive plan to enhance the quality of life for Edo citizens while ensuring the state is equipped for the challenges of the 4th industrial digital revolution.

Adams pointed out that, with only about a month remaining before the election, Okpebholo has yet to present a clear vision for the people of Edo. He criticized the APC’s campaign efforts as disorganized and lacking substance, alleging that their strategy is instead focused on seeking federal approval to undermine the democratic process and manipulate the election results.

Adams advocated for a vote in favor of progress, urging the citizens of Edo to reject the hazardous path laid out by the APC and to embrace the hopeful vision put forth by Ighodalo.
