Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in 2023, has stated that there is a critical need to separate politics from religion in Nigeria.

During an Interview, Obi suggested that night vigils should be converted into night shifts to enhance productivity among citizens.

He expressed, “While the intertwining of politics and religion may seem appealing, it is essential to dismantle this connection. We need to transform night vigils into night shifts to enable people to be more productive.”

Obi emphasized his belief in God and his regular church attendance, but he criticized the excessive time people spend in church from Monday to Friday.

He remarked, “When I drive home, the predominant signs I see are those advertising churches. In the Eastern region, it seems to revolve around burials, which does not reflect a thriving nation.”
