Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing waves of killings, kidnappings, and other violent acts plaguing Nigeria.

In a recent post on his X account, Obi mourned the tragic deaths of several crew members, along with a police officer, who were brutally ambushed on the Ihiala-Orlu Road in Anambra State just days ago.

According to ThePaan reports, the victims were en route to cover the Super Eagles’ qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Libya when they were attacked.

The former governor of Anambra State emphasized that such incidents continue to escalate, causing immense suffering for families affected by the relentless actions of non-state actors who often resort to kidnapping and brutal killings.

“I unequivocally condemn the tragic killing of Supersports TV crew members, who were ambushed while performing their professional duties along the Ihiala-Orlu Road in Anambra State,” Obi stated.

“These journalists were heading to Uyo for an official assignment when this horrific event occurred, leading to their deaths and the abduction of others.”

He also highlighted a recent attack in Benue State’s Agatu local government area, where multiple individuals were reported killed and others injured by criminal elements. “Just two days ago, we witnessed more violence, with innocent lives lost and others harmed in a terror attack,” he tweeted.
