Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, expressed his heartfelt condolences to former Kaduna State Governor, Makarfi, following the passing of his son, Faisal.

On Thursday, Obi, accompanied by his predecessor, Yusuf Datti, paid a visit to Makarfi and his family in Kaduna to offer their sympathies.

Sharing moments from the visit on his personal X account, Obi prayed for divine comfort for the family during this difficult time, asking God to grant them strength to cope with the profound loss.

“May Almighty Allah, who has called Faisal home, forgive his sins and grant him Aljanna Firdausi. May God continue to protect and bless the Makarfi family always,” he stated.

In addition to his visit of condolence, the former governor of Anambra State also took the opportunity to visit Almajiri schools in the area, where he made donations.

He noted, “Afterwards, we visited one of the Almajiri schools in the State, which I have been supporting, to assess the progress made since my last visit.”

Obi recalled that during his initial visit earlier this year, he found the school’s infrastructure in disrepair, lacking functional toilets and a reliable water supply—essential needs for the students.

To address these issues, he had previously contributed funds to improve these critical facilities.

Upon returning to the school, Obi expressed his satisfaction with the renovations and enhancements that had taken place. He noted that the school now boasts a functional toilet facility and two working boreholes.

“Encouraged by this progress, I donated an additional N5 million to the school and reaffirmed my commitment to ensuring that these children receive a quality education, which is vital for their future opportunities,” he remarked.

Obi concluded by emphasizing his dedication to fostering a Nigeria that equips its children with the necessary training and empowerment to seize brighter opportunities in life.
