Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) has lauded the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, as a unifying figure dedicated to promoting harmony throughout Nigeria.

Obi emphasized Iwuanyanwu’s unwavering commitment to principles of justice, fairness, and the overall advancement of the nation.

Reports indicate that the respected politician and statesman was laid to rest on Friday in Atta, located in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.

In a heartfelt message shared on his X account on Saturday, Obi reflected on the well-attended funeral service, which highlighted the significant legacy Iwuanyanwu left and his deep influence on many lives.

“I was present yesterday in Atta, Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, alongside other notable Nigerians, to pay tribute to an elder statesman, a guiding figure, and the former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as he was laid to rest,” Obi wrote.

He continued, “The large turnout at the burial ceremony was a testament to the positive legacy he created and the profound effect he had on people’s lives. He was a true bridge builder, devoted to fostering peaceful coexistence within our nation, and a patriotic Nigerian who championed justice, equity, and national development.”

Obi expressed his condolences to Iwuanyanwu’s family, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and the broader Nigerian community, acknowledging the immense loss felt by many. “May God grant us the strength to endure this irreplaceable loss and may his soul find eternal rest,” he added.

He concluded with a prayer for Iwuanyanwu’s family: “May God continue to watch over and bless them always.
