Peter Obi has expressed his willingness to consider a merger between the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.

In an interview Obi, who was the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 poll, stated that he supports a merger if it serves the purpose of effectively governing Nigeria and improving the country.

However, he emphasized that he would not be part of a merger driven solely by electoral gains or personal interests.

Obi reiterated that his desire to become president is not driven by desperation or personal ambition, but rather by his commitment to the well-being of Nigerians, particularly those in poverty.

He expressed gratitude for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s support, especially regarding his endorsement of a presidential candidate from the South-East region.

Obi commended Atiku’s statements and expressed his appreciation for the support he would receive if the presidential ticket were to be granted to the South-East.
