Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Sir Amaju Pinnick has expressed his satisfaction in the choice of Augustine Eguavoen as the interim coach of the national team.
Mr Pinnick was answering questions on the authenticity of Eguavoen’s choice as the interim coach and he said,“Eguavoen is absolutely nothing, not like that.
“If you remember the Shuaibu Amodu time, as a technical director, even in major teams in global football, a technical director takes charge when there is a vacuum in the coaching crew.
“That is what happened. Eguavoen is still the technical director of the Nigerian Federation. If it was someone else, that person would have taken charge.
“I believe that it is more about the players, not even the coach. The players should look at that green-white-green flag, should look at that emblem and say “I want to die for Nigeria.”
Eguavoen started his life as Super Eagles coach in a grand style, beating the cheetahs of Benin Republic 3-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in his another home debut.
Ademola Lookman scored twice and Victor Osimhen returned to action with a goal as they are go into the game against Rwanda, on Tuesday with the win.
