The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Yusuf Adenoyin, a 31-year-old man, for allegedly being in possession of eight dry human skulls.
The arrest took place at Isua-Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abayomi Oladipo, disclosed this in a statement released in Akure and made available to the press by the command’s spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, on Wednesday.
According to Oladipo, the suspect was apprehended by police operatives during a stop-and-search exercise at Isua-Akoko.
He explained that on June 10, 2024, at about 08:00hrs, personnel attached to Police Safer Highway Patrol at the Isua/Epinmi checkpoint flagged down a Nissan Salon car heading towards Akure.
During the search of the vehicle, one of the passengers attempted to flee but was pursued and arrested by the police.
Upon searching the suspect, identified as Yusuf Adenoyin, the police found eight dry human skulls, fresh human flesh, and charms wrapped in a polythene bag concealed in a garri sack he was traveling with.
Adenoyin allegedly confessed that he was transporting the items to herbalists.
The police commissioner stated that the suspect had confessed to supplying seven human skulls before his arrest and that investigations were ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.
