The Lagos State Police Command has successfully apprehended two men in the process of attempting to sell their employer’s Toyota Highlander to a car dealer.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, the suspects, identified as Galadima Adamu and Abubakar Lawal, approached a car dealer with the intention of selling the vehicle for N3 million. During the routine verification process, the diligent car dealer called the number listed on the vehicle’s documents. This led to the discovery that Adamu and Lawal were actually the driver and security guard of the car’s rightful owner. Realizing the potential theft, the dealer promptly alerted the police, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.

Nonso (not real name) is a car dealer. One day, Galadima Adamu and Abubakar Lawal brought a Toyota Highlander to Nonso, offering to sell it for N3 million.
Nonso, adhering to proper verification procedures, called the number on the vehicle documents for confirmation. This crucial step revealed that the men were not the owners but rather the driver and security guard of the actual vehicle owner. They had stolen the car a few days prior. Thanks to Nonso’s vigilance, the vehicle has been recovered, the suspects are in custody, and prosecution will follow.

Hundeyin emphasized the importance of due diligence in transactions involving valuable items and praised the car dealer’s quick thinking and adherence to verification protocols. The police commend such actions that contribute to maintaining law and order and encourage others to follow Nonso’s example.
