The police in Ekpoma have arrested a group of young men suspected to be involved in internet fraud.The suspects were apprehended in a covert operation following a tip-off from vigilant residents.
The arrest took place around 5 PM in a residential area of Ekpoma. According to the police, the suspects were found in possession of several items commonly associated with ritual practices, raising suspicions of their involvement in both internet fraud and ritual activities.
Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, stating, “We received credible information about the activities of these individuals. Our officers acted swiftly and efficiently, leading to the successful apprehension of the suspects. We recovered laptops, multiple mobile phones, and various ritual materials from the scene.”
The police have assured the public that thorough investigations will be conducted to ascertain the full extent of the suspects’ activities and any additional individuals involved in the network.
He urged the community to remain vigilant and continue to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
