The police have apprehended a woman in connection with a child trafficking ring operating in Abeokuta. The arrest took place this evening following a meticulously planned operation by law enforcement officers.

The suspect, whose identity has been withheld pending further investigation, was detained at her residence in the Kuto area of Abeokuta. Authorities received a tip-off earlier this week about suspicious activities linked to the woman, leading to a coordinated surveillance effort.

During the arrest, several children were found in the woman’s custody, believed to be victims of the trafficking operation. The police have since taken the children into protective care and are working to reunite them with their families.

The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and commended the officers involved for their dedication and swift action. “This arrest marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to combat child trafficking in the region.

We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our children and will continue to pursue all leads to dismantle such criminal networks,” she stated.

The suspect is currently being held for questioning, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the trafficking operation and identify any accomplices.
