In Kaduna State, the police have blocked the road leading to the Government House in the capital city. This action was taken after violence erupted during the #EndBadGovernance protests on Thursday. Some troublemakers tried to attack the Government House, prompting the police to respond.

Police beef up security in Benue

On Friday, a combined team of security officers, including police, civil defence, and state vigilance members, set up a strong barricade. They wanted to prevent troublemakers from entering the area around the Government House and nearby communities.

The police have urged parents and guardians to keep their children from causing public disturbances during the protests. They stressed the importance of taking this matter seriously.

Mansir Hassan, the state police spokesman, released a statement advising protest groups to coordinate with the Commissioner of Police to ensure peaceful protests. He explained that the initially peaceful protest had been taken over by troublemakers who used the situation to create chaos.

These miscreants tried to enter the Government House but were stopped by security personnel. In the process, they injured two policemen and damaged a police armored vehicle. They also attacked the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) office, setting it on fire along with other nearby government offices.

Twenty-five of these troublemakers were arrested. The police found evidence of their violent intentions, including scissors, a jackknife, and live ammunition. One of the suspects, Hassan Ibrahim from the Rigasa area of Kaduna, was found with 7.62 X 39mm ammunition. Another suspect was arrested for wearing a police camouflage uniform to deceive others.
