The Lagos State Police Command is intensifying its search efforts for the Managing Director of Fouani Nigeria Ltd, Mohamed Fouani, along with his three brothers – Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani – who were kidnapped along the Lagos waterway on Friday evening.

In a press release, the Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, provided updates on the case, explaining that the Command is leaving no stone unturned in their mission to rescue the kidnapped victims safely. Hundeyin assured reporters that the police are exploring every possible avenue and deploying all available resources to ensure the Fouani brothers are freed without harm.

The incident occurred on Friday evening as the Fouani brothers were travelling by boat from Apapa to Victoria Island. They were abducted near the Falomo Bridge in the Ikoyi area, a prominent and typically bustling part of Lagos State. The news of the kidnapping has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting swift and vigorous action from the authorities.

According to reports, the kidnappers have already made contact, demanding a ransom of $1.5 million for the release of the four men. This development has added a layer of urgency to the rescue efforts, as the police work against the clock to locate and secure the victims before any harm can come to them.

The boat that was carrying the Fouani brothers was later found abandoned near the Ikorodu jetty on Saturday. This discovery has provided the police with a crucial lead, aiding their ongoing investigation. The police have since ramped up their patrols and surveillance in the Ikorodu area, in hopes of gathering more information and possibly locating the kidnappers’ hideout.

The Lagos State Police Command is coordinating with other security agencies to ensure a comprehensive and effective response to this crisis. They are utilizing both ground and aerial surveillance to cover the vast waterways and surrounding areas where the victims might be held. Additionally, intelligence units are working tirelessly to track the kidnappers’ communications and movements.

Benjamin Hundeyin emphasized the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to resolving this case swiftly and efficiently. He appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the rescue operation, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

The kidnapping of the Fouani brothers has highlighted the ongoing security challenges faced in Lagos, particularly regarding the safety of waterways. This incident has sparked a renewed focus on enhancing security measures to protect residents and prevent such occurrences in the future.

As the investigation continues, the families of the kidnapped victims, the business community, and the general public are anxiously awaiting positive news.
