A police officer has been arrested for allegedly supplying weapons to criminals in Ebonyi State. The arrest, which took place earlier today, was made by operatives of the Ebonyi State Police Command following an extensive investigation.

According to sources within the command, the officer, whose name is being withheld pending further investigation, has been involved in supplying firearms to criminal elements operating within the state.

The arrest was made after intelligence reports linked him to a series of armed robberies and violent attacks that have plagued several communities in recent weeks.

The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State, while addressing the media, expressed disappointment at the involvement of a law enforcement officer in such criminal activities.

“This betrayal is a serious breach of trust, and we will ensure that all those involved face the full wrath of the law,” he said. The officer is said to have been under surveillance for weeks before the arrest was made.

Residents of affected communities have expressed relief at the news, hoping this will lead to a significant reduction in crime. The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are likely as they work to dismantle the criminal network involved.

The arrested officer is currently in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court soon, where he will face charges related to arms dealing and aiding criminal activities.
