The political landscape in Kano is heating up as former House Majority Leader, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has fired back at Hon. Jibrin Kofa, the Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Habitat.

Doguwa asserted that his political acumen poses a significant threat not only to Kofa but also to the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a big response, Doguwa emphasized that he is ready to secure Kano for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Representing the Tudun Wada/Doguwa federal constituency under the APC banner, Doguwa holds multiple influential positions, including Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum (Upstream) and Chairman of the Northern Regional Caucus.

Kofa, a close ally of Kwankwaso and a prominent figure in the NNPP, has been at the center of a verbal clash with Doguwa. Kofa previously warned that he would make Doguwa’s political future difficult if he continued to criticize Kwankwaso.

In a statement, Doguwa urged Kofa to address the serious allegations surrounding him, specifically regarding the killing of seven individuals allegedly linked to Kofa’s actions during the 2019 campaign when he supposedly led an attack against Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Doguwa stated, “I am determined to deliver Kano to APC by midday on election day, God willing.” He dismissed Kofa’s assertions that he poses a danger to the APC and President Tinubu, reiterating that he is a crucial asset to the party.

Doguwa took the opportunity to highlight Kofa’s failure to respond to the allegations of violence, stating, “Like a thief in the night, Jibrin avoided addressing the killings during the last campaign, despite being arrested alongside 70 other suspects.”

He declared that he is firmly established as a leading figure in Kano’s political arena and that he is the only member of the ruling APC elected from the entire Kano South Senatorial District. Doguwa also criticized the NNPP’s governance in Kano, claiming they have failed to improve the welfare of the people and are instead engaged in vindictive politics.

In his bid to further solidify his influence, Doguwa called upon the APC leadership to appoint him as the campaign coordinator and Director-General for the party in Kano for the 2027 elections. “I pledge to deliver APC’s gubernatorial and presidential victories before noon on election day,” he asserted.

With a long-standing record in parliament, Doguwa emphasized his commitment to his legislative duties and his strong ties with his constituents and local security forces, positioning himself as a reliable and dedicated political figure.
