President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s steadfast dedication to eliminating all security threats and violent crimes in Nigeria.

During the closing ceremony of the African Military Games 2024 held in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized his commitment to strengthening the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and promoting peace throughout Africa as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

A statement released on Sunday by the vice president’s spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, captured Tinubu’s remarks:

“I want to take this opportunity to announce the determination and unwavering commitment of my administration to eliminate security threats and violent criminal activities in our nation. Furthermore, as ECOWAS Chairman, I want to stress my resolve to stabilize the sub-region and the entire African continent to foster prosperity.”

“To achieve this vision, I prioritize the strengthening of relationships among African nations to cultivate a strong sense of unity among our military personnel.”

Tinubu celebrated the revival of the African Military Games after a 20-year hiatus, highlighting its importance in enhancing collaboration to tackle the continent’s security challenges. He expressed optimism that the event would solidify friendships and cooperation among African armed forces.

Emphasizing the importance of physical fitness for military preparedness, Tinubu stated:

“It is well-known that members of our Armed Forces must maintain their fitness to ensure optimal physical, mental, and emotional well-being, enabling them to navigate the complexities of our rapidly changing environment.”

The President also praised Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and Major General M. Abdullahi, President of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), for their contributions to the successful organization of the event.
