President Bola Tinubu has urged his recently appointed ministers to embrace their roles as public servants, encouraging them to collaborate with him in addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
This call to action came during their swearing-in ceremony in Abuja, following their successful screening and approval by the National Assembly.
Tinubu emphasized that service is fundamental to human existence and expressed confidence in the nation’s potential for economic recovery.
While acknowledging the difficulties Nigerians face, including the rising cost of living, he highlighted significant steps made, such as the implementation of the new minimum wage and a reduction in debt servicing from 97 percent to 65 percent of national revenue.
“We have a promising roadmap to achieve our aspirations, not just for ourselves but also for future generations,” he remarked.
The newly sworn-in ministers include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, who will serve as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment; and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who takes on the role of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Additional appointees are Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, Minister of State for Education.
Tinubu extended his gratitude to the National Assembly for their prompt review and endorsement of the new cabinet members.
In her address, Odumegwu-Ojukwu expressed her appreciation for the appointment and reaffirmed her commitment to aligning with the government’s foreign policy goals. “The President has facilitated our efforts by establishing a clear direction for foreign policy,” she stated.
