President Bola Tinubu has stated that his administration is prioritizing the future of the next generation rather than concentrating on the upcoming 2027 elections.

He made this assertion during the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-West Zone Assembly held at Eko Hotels in Lagos, which was chaired by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos and Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, President Tinubu expressed his concern over the hardships faced by the populace but remained optimistic that conditions would improve in due time.

He conveyed a message from the President, indicating that despite the difficult decisions made by his administration, there is hope for a brighter future ahead. “There is light at the end of the tunnel, and the time will come when we will all be grateful for these decisions,” he said.

“The President has instructed me to emphasize that his focus is not on the next election, but rather on the next generation,” Gbajabiamila added. He highlighted the importance of courageous leadership at this critical juncture.

Tinubu assured attendees that all discussions from the South-West caucus of the APC would be taken into account, reaffirming that while he is the President of Nigeria, the South-West remains his foundational support.

Acknowledging the diverse challenges faced by the nation, the President reiterated his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s progress and promised to continue serving the interests of the people.

Governor Sanwo-Olu remarked that the assembly served as a platform for unity, collaboration, and strategizing to elevate the South-West region. He emphasized that the ruling party possesses valuable resources and is well-positioned to drive the country forward.

“We have gathered as one collective family to explore collaborative efforts and share strategies for the advancement of the South-West,” the governor stated.

He further noted that the assembly aimed to rekindle hope among the people, advocating that the region’s strong omoluabi values should foster progress for both the South-West and the nation as a whole.

Sanwo-Olu called on leaders and members to provide robust support for President Tinubu and urged them to focus on initiatives leading up to the 2027 elections.
