On Sunday, November 17, President Bola Tinubu will host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a State Visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to a statement from Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday.

This visit marks the first by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s state visit in 2007, which established a strategic partnership between the two nations.

Onanuga indicated that President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi will engage in discussions aimed at bolstering the relationship between Nigeria and India.

The two leaders are set to exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in vital areas.

Before his visit, Nigeria and India had already signed three MoUs on Friday to further strengthen their bilateral relations.

The agreements were signed by Ambassador Dumoma Umar Ahmed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Nigeria, and Mr. Dammu Ravi, Secretary of Economic Relations from India, representing their respective governments.
