In a surprising move, Mas’ud El-Jibril Doguwa, a former senator and influential politician in Kano State, has made scathing remarks about the All Progressives Congress (APC) government at all levels.

Doguwa, in a press release issued on Friday, announced his resignation from the APC and his decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with his supporters.

According to the statement, Doguwa and his colleagues officially resigned from the ruling party on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

The senator explained that his departure from the APC was the result of extensive consultations with his supporters, who believed that the party had not adequately utilized their wealth of experience in politics and governance.

“As members of the APC, we feel undervalued and excluded from meaningful discussions and engagements that could contribute to the development of the party, the state, and the nation,” Doguwa stated.

He further criticized the APC government’s policies, describing them as detrimental to the well-being of ordinary citizens. According to him, these policies do not align with his political ideology and prioritize the interests of a select few over the welfare of the people.

In light of these concerns, Doguwa and his supporters have decided to heed the advice of their elders and political associates by returning to their political base, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Their aim is to actively participate as full-fledged members and contribute to the rebuilding of the PDP in Kano State.

The official reception for Doguwa and other prominent figures, including former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau and former Foreign Affairs Minister Aminu Wali, will be announced at a later date.

This defection marks a significant development in Kano State’s political landscape and could potentially reshape the dynamics of party politics in the region.
