Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to embark on a two-day visit to North Korea starting Tuesday, as confirmed by both nations. This visit, Putin’s first to North Korea in 24 years, has sparked international concerns regarding their growing military collaboration.

During this visit, Putin is scheduled to engage in discussions with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, strengthening their alignment amidst ongoing confrontations with Washington.

According to North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency, Putin’s state visit will occur Tuesday and Wednesday at Kim’s invitation. North Korean state media did not provide additional details, but Russia confirmed the visit in a simultaneous announcement.

There are escalating concerns about a potential arms arrangement between the two nations. Reports suggest that Pyongyang may supply Moscow with much-needed munitions to support Putin’s war efforts in Ukraine.

In return, North Korea could receive economic assistance and technological transfers, potentially bolstering Kim’s nuclear weapons and missile programs.

Since Kim’s visit to the Russian Far East in September, where he met with Putin for the first time since 2019, military, economic, and other forms of cooperation between North Korea and Russia have intensified.
